The Fraunhofer Institute for High-Speed Dynamics – Ernst-Mach-Institut (EMI) – is one of the most acknowledged applied research centres for critical infrastructure protection in Europe, having comprehensive experience in the field of threat/vulnerability analysis for infrastructure, explosion testing of building structures, development of sensors for security and space applications, and sensor network technology.

Fraunhofer EMI was the leader of the work on threat detection and the main contributor to the development and testing of the physical attack detection system.
